yesterday, I loved that. today I love this.

Fall is here.

Deep shades of this seasonal colors often attempt me to sprinkle them on my layout, but the only problem is that they're not my favorite color shades... I prefer my works have lighter look. Maybe that's just because I am not familiar with deeper shades than my beloved. It is just a matter of favor. Sometimes I feel obliged to work with some not familiar colors and materials(nobody forces me to do of course,) but it is not as easy as writing on here.

However colors(not my favorite though) that vitalize a flat layout are always welcomed! Double complementary color effect made in here agitates flat beige mood and adds some energy...

Background effect is made by using acrylic paint. Watercolor seems to be the latest fashion in scrapbooking, but there are too many acrylic color tubes sleeping in my drawers. So I just made a foggy look by them. It looks like cotton candy cloud!

Again,
I've come up with another my favorite colors and simple design. I love multiple layers and artistic touches added on a layout, but this easy to create-simple layout brings me back to the point where I want to start everything all over again. From this point I can reconfirm myself :
what I really love to do, what I want to record on a layout, what I want to show on a layout!

done!

I started making blankets last year, probably end of Oct. and I had made 4till now, so it seems like that I've been making one per a season. Crochet is like a tranquilizer for me at any time. Great medicine to take a step back from worries aches my head! Result is even better.

life right now

think finally I've got the best photo shoot spot for my layouts...  good bye to the harsh shadows!

love vitamine colors.but calm them down just a bit.
I've made quite a lot pages thesedays... and new attempts I've never used before. great fun.

A card made for the WCMD challenge held at Studio Calico. I don't make cards that much so this is a little awkward but a refreshing work. My beloved color tones are all here :)

sequins like salt and pepper!

What is a style?

When I go shopping with my friends, sometimes they point towards a window display and say, "that's your style!'. Ok. I know why they say so, but a quiestion pops up from somewher deepest in my mind. Is that what I really want? or just fit to my style habbits?

Frequently I wonder 'what is my style' while working on scrapbooking layouts. Many of  my friends say 'yeah, I knew this is your works', but I just want to ask know how you infer that by what clues.
I think there's a huge gap between 'what I love' and 'what I love to use'. What is the reason make me say I LOVE THAT STYLE?

I made this layout intentionally to break some habbits in styling. It's just a common layout, but I think I made a step forwards. I used to put deep or dark toned colors to press bright colors if there are too many befor, but I refrained this time(photo has been sidelined. :D).
I tried to let background papers and embellishements enjoy their bright and lively mood.

Style habbits mostly came from one's persomality and life. It is interesting to trace where my (grown to) habbits stem from. Is that what I really wanted to be from way back? or is that what an avatar who internalized conditions from outside of me wanted? I am still on the journey to find real me. Since there is no one scold 'what you want is not right', I'd have no fear.

gosh,

Another influenza virus has attacked me again!

uhm... that's too threatening.

just a cold. or flu, whatever its real name is, that common but annoying thing.

I did this last night with SC's september kit, which arrived Sep 20th. Pity that I'm international. And brand new Oct kit will be released soon...

one day in the life of the YOUNGs

I entitled this layout from the One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovicgh(such a tough novel to read for me). Thesedays I love to use colors that remind me of autumn- especially these calm tones!

Seems like my sewing machine exists for paper, not for fabric

I'm thrilled when I found new usages of  colors that I haven't used quite a lot before... it is like saving new color grammar somewhere in my memory deep in the mind(no brain! because colors always evoke various feelings. Feelings and impressions sleep in mind, I believe).

go for another challenge

challenges. feel like big pressure sometimes but chances to give a new twist to everything consisting my old habbits @ crafts...
1. I feel comfy when working with things have big contrast among them. usually color & tone. If I take pink in pale tone, then I certainly pick teal or aqua in very strong or deep tone to get some interval. I think I put a little camping chair there and stretch there to hold some embellishments poured on the paper. I guess that habbit originated partially from my personality, believe it or not. I am an indisputable sagittarius. CLEAR, APPARENT, EVIDENT, CERTAIN, OBVIOUS. These are my favorites. I love those soft and subtle moods expressed on designers' layouts, but they are just masterpieces. I just could adore them from a distance.

Ah, but...
when I saw the mood board challenge by JOT magazine, I could nothing but say this is it. I saw that lovely color palette I've never thought and tried before. This might help me out.

and this is the result. You can see that I could not break 'make contrast' habit perfectly here. see that black cameo cut? :) But I'm satisfied anyway! I'm comfident with this.

* BTW, I just figure out that journaling card by Bella Blvd is a quite popular @ this challenge. :D

season for crochet is comming

two new pot holders, and a doily. I love this grey color makes a great harmony with others! It calms down that strong tone of teal and the result is better than I thought.

I don't like blocking very much cause it's too annoying to pin every picot hole. That's why I used iron to press it down... but this time I tried that thing called BLOCKING for the first time and it was worth enough. Now I understand why blocking is quite necessary for a crochet doily...

picots look great but not that great work to do.

Fall is just around the corner and time to prepare for it. Need to make some warm blankets, preserves, clothes for my kids... and I have to think more.

watercolor fun

Sunnie's hooked on roleplaying... honestly playing a princess. She was happy enough with this mesh 'cause she thought a PERFECT princess should have a veil on her head.

& I am still palying with my watercolor palette. I love those half-transparent look of watercolor.

little flags to decorate photo

Thank god! Finally back to school. It was just 4 weeks but was like 4months...
I was out of my mind this week because of the new semester, hopefully, coming week would get better. Hope to get everything back on the track as I thought (the only problem is that life gets off the road quite).
Bunch of photos to work with, and delayed project life spreads are waiting me on the desk. So, time to work on another project :) gotta go.

got some new supplies!

I haven't bought any scrap supply (kits are exception, :D) recently... which means it's time for some shopping, isn't it? And I've got these brand new things! Bluebonnets 12X12 Plum Seed Paper from WEbster's pages appears on the right side. This floral print is so lovely. Background paper is from Studio Calico. You might see the subtle hexagon print behind the teal color.

I tried some stencil like thing on here. Ink splattered more than I expected, but it looks okay to me :) I'm satisfied anyway.
Now I'm having real fun with all the skills and techs I've learned from online classes... sometimes I can even think of a new one. That makes me so happy.

you've grown up so much

Sunnie bring me itty bitty things made by her all the time. They're mostly adorable, she's so proud of herself about that mommy loves to use her handmade things on scrapbooks. but rarely she just draw some illegible figures and forces me to use them too... no matter what she shows me I have to show a huge happiness and pleasure to have such a gifted child like her. Yay~

but these drawings were really cute. I cried wows and OMG more than 3-4 times.

Baby June was trying hard to climb up a bench one day, which was so cute but dangerous.
Try it some other time, a little later...

This Glitz design paper perfectly matches to a question pops up in mind, 'did he make it?'. I love the little interval between this question and answers. ♥
